BOBSOHO – a labour of love!

I set up BOBSOHO kind of by accident. Prior to this I had worked all over the world on fashion shoots, catwalk shows, hairdressing seminars and also as an educator within the industry. Coming from a scientific background I became frustrated when I encountered other hair professionals who lacked any real understanding of how hair is constructed and what the common sense rules to approaching hair as a substance are.
My team is a group of well educated, experienced professionals – some of whom I have worked with for well over 10 years. When I decided to open BOBSOHO, asking them to come work with me was kind of a given.

Here’s a DIY guide to identifying and caring for damaged locks.

You can’t begin treating damaged tresses unless you know you have a problem so here’s a nifty way of identifying damaged hair. Start by pulling out a single strand of hair and submerging it into a glass of water. If it floats, your hair is healthy; if it sinks, you are in need of some repair – seek expert advice immediately.

When drying your hair, gently squeeze out excess water with a towel - don't rub hair vigorously - and be extra careful when combing it out as hair is weakest when it is wet.

Eat a balanced diet including multivitamins and proteins to encourage hair growth. Take time when brushing your hair and be careful when using hair accessories (avoid rubber bands and headbands – these can exacerbate damage).

Drink at least two litres of water a day to re-hydrate your body including your hair.
